Veterinary Diagnostics

Many times, determining the cause of illness in pets requires more than just a physical exam. Justin Animal Hospital has a fully equipped in-house laboratory, allowing us to perform many diagnostic tests and have the results for you during your visit.

Our in-house tests include:

  • Blood tests
    • Complete blood count
    • Blood chemistry
    • Heartworm
    • Coagulation profiles
  • Electrolytes
    • Tests for specific diseases
    • Feline leukemia
    • Feline immunodeficiency virus
    • Lyme disease
    • Anaplasmosis (tick fever)
    • Ehrlichiosis
    • Parvovirus
    • Heartworm
    • Thyroid function
    • Urinalysis
    • Digital X-ray and ultrasound

Some of these tests will help us determine a diagnosis so we can begin the right treatment for your pet as soon as possible. Others will establish a baseline for your pet so that we can easily see if something is wrong during a later examination. Early diagnosis can make a huge difference in your pet’s response to treatment, as well as both longevity and quality of life.

Certain diagnostic testing cannot be performed at our hospital, such as cultures, special cytologies, and histopathologies that need to go to a pathologist. These tests are sent to a leading laboratory that gives us prompt, accurate results, and we will contact you as soon as we receive them so we can begin treatment for your pet.
