Wellness Exams & Vaccinations Keep Your Pet Healthy
When you bring your pet to Justin Animal Hospital for a regular checkup, our veterinarians perform a complete wellness examination from nose to tail. We take the time to explain what we are looking for and what you should watch for in your pet. This will help you to have a better idea of when something is out of the ordinary and become a full partner in keeping your pet well and happy.
An annual veterinary wellness exam includes a physical exam, fecal analysis for parasites, and vaccines appropriate to your pet’s lifestyle and environment. We will discuss and make recommendations on issues such as the need for flea and tick preventives or heartworm medications.
According to your pet’s age, we may recommendation bloodwork that should be done to look for things such as kidney or liver problems. If caught early, some common problems of old age can be treated effectively.
Our wellness philosophy stresses routine in-house wellness examinations, including:
- Annual blood and fecal screening
- Heartworm and tick-borne disease testing
- Testing for leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) in cats
- Extended animal vaccine protocols
- Pet obesity issues
- Pet dental care
Regular appointments for your pet are the best way to ensure a long and happy life. During a pet wellness exam, we involve you in learning how to care for your pet’s health. Our veterinarians take the time to explain what we are looking for – and what you should watch for at home – as well as answer any questions you may have.

Pet Vaccinations Help Ensure Good Health
Vaccinations help to keep your pet and your family safe from disease. Strains of some of the diseases we vaccinate for can infect dogs, cats, and humans as well. For example, leptospirosis can be silently infecting dogs and sometimes cats. While your pet may show no symptoms of the disease, it can be contagious to you and your family.
We are happy to discuss vaccination protocols with you and can create an individual schedule of vaccinations specifically tailored for your pet based on age, risk factors, and lifestyle.
